Search Assistant

Hello...

I've got a problem that seems to be fairly common - every time I log on to Windows XP I get a search assistant in my taskbar... where should I post this? The forum I thought would be ideal doesn't take any more new threads...

I've read over a couple other posts on how to be rid of this plague and when they state which Hijack This items to delete, I have none of them \

Also, my start menu tells me I have new programs, but those programs have been installed for six months

Help!
