Hi, I have a seagate hard drive which I am not able to partition. It was intalled in HP computer, something went wrong with OS which was WIN 98 and freind tried to delete the partitions and format it. Howerver now I am not able to partition as the fdisk and disc manager failed to partion it. Its saying that disc is non readble.

Any suggestion as in how to partition it.

Boot with a bootable floppy and use fdisk to first delete ALL partitions that may still be on the hard drive. Then re partition with Fdisk.

When I am trying to run fdisk, its not recognizing the hard drive as its saying that its unreadble. Now I have seen it in BIOS and its detecting and made primary master and it didnt made any difference. Even I tried to partition it Windows XP cd and it gave the same message.

Your BIOS recognizes the hard disk, but it seems inaccessible.
It could be that the parameters of the BIOS are wrong, did you set it on auto?

Also download diagnostic tools from Seagate and run it.
