Hi...heres a shot of the netbook desktop....dual boot Win7 and Peppermint linux....a great easy to use distro.I also dual boot my home desktop Win Xp and Peppermint.
Love love love the fishbowl icons! I would never get any work done with those on my desktop. I'd just spend my time playing with the cool icons.

My EeePC's rather ugly JWM desktop... This is actually Kubuntu 12.10, using KDE apps in a JWM session - as you can see, the KDE control center's network management works fine. I use dmenu for launching stuff, slock for screen locking, and Dolphin to manage files; JWM is also set to run kdeinit4 and feh (for the wallpaper) on startup. Since the netbook's ACPI hotkeys work, all power management in JWM is handled by acpid. (And I just open a console and run acpi when I need to check the battery status.) It's unsightly and a bit awkward, but IMO it does the job better than the default KDE session. I find that KDE works better as a collection of independent desktops apps than as an actual desktop.
