SAV CE Question

Hi, anyone there familiar with using the Symantec System Center with SAV Corp Edition? I'm very confused by Symantec's documentation and the placement of GRC.DAT files on managed clients. In one area of the documentation it tells you "where GRC.DAT files are found on clients" and in another area it tells you "it is not necessary to place GRC.DAT files on clients."

I've had SAV Server running in a test environment and a couple of clients in managed mode under it. I have not installed any GRC.DAT files on the clients yet the Scheduled Scans and other configurations seem to be working fine.
