To be fair to mick92z, he's referring more to the update procedure mentioned above rather than general Sandboxie usage per se.

I do what I do for the following reason. When I update Firefox I disable three of my security layers (SRP, LUA, Sandboxie) as I'm running Firefox as administrator and unsandboxed. After updating / restarting, Firefox tends to open a couple of Mozilla web pages that I'd just prefer not to open while I'm running a High Integrity process. Paranoid? Maybe, but I'm OK with that here.

Hey Mick, Sandboxie helps us have a more enjoyable and relaxed
Internet experience, just the opposite of being paranoid.
I have been using Sandboxie for just a bit over two years and
I can tell you, my Internet experience changed the day that I
first installed it. After 6 months using it, I knew SBIE was the
real thing and little by little stopped doing the things that
paranoid users do, scans every day, five scanners and using a
bunch of applications, real time or on demand, that become
unneeded if SBIE is used as its supposed to be used.
Sandboxie reminds me of the old proverb made famous by Teddy
Roosevelt,"Speak softly and carry a big stick". To me, that's SBIE.
Right now, my protection depends totally on SBIE and just a little
bit of brain work with no thinking required.

Being paranoid has nothing to do with Sandboxie.

Hi Zeena, I don't recall if somebody mentioned but one of Sandboxies
benefits is that you can use it to try programs. You can install, if you
wanted to, Firefox4 or any other browser sandboxed, use it, play with
it and when you finish testing it, just delete the sandbox and every
thing is back to how it was before you ran the executable sandboxed.
Trying/installing browsers works very nice in the sandbox.

    Hi :)

    Got a little Problem :'(

    Went to... www.news.sky.com
Just as a video on the main page started to play... Up Popped a Sandboxie Box

Followed it - & - It turned out to be about this: http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?FileMenu#iswindow

    Don't Really Understand Though

    Thought I'd Try It!
    S.B_Run_as_UAC.png
Big Box Popped Up.... Telling me to click on Windows UAC :argh:

    Confused o_O
Do I leave the box ticked now or do I need to untick it again?

    Also!
This is what popped up when I tried to post a picture on here...
    SB. What Is It.JPG

    Edit!
Know what this one : http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?SBIE2102 : means Now!

    Hi :)

Sky News Wasn't Trying To Infect Me With Something... Was It? :doubt:

I'm Getting Paranoid Now... Right? :doubt:

    Note!
Didn't go back to Sky News while Sanboxie's UAC thing was ticked .. Too Scared
Just came here to tell what had happened.
And thought I'd see if the UAC thing made it easier to post pictures.
But guess that's a totally different problem

    Thanks!

Delete the contents of your sandbox. It must be getting full.

Sandboxie message 2102 is normal, nothing to worry about but what
program were you trying to install or tried to run on its own?
    That is the important question.

    Hi Bo :)

    That's Good To Know :thumb:
Wasn't to worried about code 2102 once I'd read the Sanboxie Help page for it - & - Kind of understand the explanation.

More Worried About This One :(
    That's The Thing...
Wasn't trying to Install or Run anything myself o_O
    1] Googled Sky News
    2] Clicked On : news.sky.com
    3] Page loaded
4] Noticed an empty box on the left side of the page.
5] Clicked on WOT just to double check it's Score Page.
6] WOT score page opened for Sky News in a new tab.
    7] Started hearing Voices o_O
8] Clicked on the Sky News page again.
9] Saw that a Video Advert thing was running in the place that had previously been... empty box on the left side of the page.
10] Sanboxie started going bonkers :argh:

Bit Scared To Go Back To Sky News

    Thanks!

    3) Just Sat There Waiting!

It's hard to know whats happening, without knowing exactly what your doing.
The first box you showed, pops up when you right click on a program/file etc and choose ' run sandboxed 'The alert is asking you which sandbox you wish to use ( in case you have several )
In my SB settings I have drop my rights enabled, so the box to ' run as UAC admin is greyed out.
Is this what you did ? Right clicked something ?

    EDIT
Actually having read the error message it appears, you need to tick the UAC box , to run/install whatever it was
I cannot understand why you would get this alert from watching sky news
Also wuauserv seems related to windows updates, were you running anything else sandboxed ?

    3) Waited!
    4) Approx 30 seconds after the box with Sky News Live started to play...
    5) Sandboxie Popped Up :argh:

Windows Updates are Automatic - & - I'm sure my Silverlight is up to date :thumb:

    mick92z - & - sbseven
Was using Chrome in Sandboxie when the problem ocured with Sky News.
    Does Chrome...
    a) Come with Silverlight already installed?
    b) Take Silverlight from the computer?
    c) Do I need to install Silverlight for Chrome?

If the answer is C ...
How did Sky News Live even manage to start to playing without me being asked.... " Do you wish to install Silverlight for Chrome? " o_O

    Thanks!

Turning off auto updating would preclude potential issues.
Plus you get the wonderful option of deciding what gets installed and when.
You don't strike me as the type of computer user who would forget to update, so there is nothing to lose.

Looks like you're up to date, then. Have you tried running IE sandboxed and seeing if you get the same behaviour when visiting Sky News?

    Hi Page42 :)

    You've Got Me Right!
Even though I have Windows Updates set to Auto Update... That's Not Quite The Whole Story ;)

    Basically!
    Apart from Windows Defender Updates...
Windows Updates have Never really been automatic on my computers.

Windows Updates UK : Would Normally Update... Computer Start Up on a Wednesday morning.
    However!
Tuesday Night is my Update Night :D
    1) Check For Updates
    2) Check What The Updates Are
    3) Install The Updates

Keeping Windows Updates set to Automatic just keeps Windows Happy as it thinks it's in Control.
    But... It's NOT
    Coz... I Am!

    Thanks!

    Hi sbseven :)

    Not Yet!
    Coz...
    Hate using IE8
    Might try with Fiirefox
    But...
Just about to have one last try with Chrome.

Can well imagine that Sky News was the first website I'd been to with Chrome that happened to use Silverlight.
Meaning the very first time Silverlight tried to run in Chrome... It was in a Sandboxed Chrome

Now that I've confirmed Silverlight is installed, Up to Date - & - Presumably working OK from visiting Microsoft...
Lets see if Silverlight will now work with Sky News in a Sandboxed Chrome :doubt:

    I'll Be Back! :D

    Thanks!

    Hi :)

This Time Managed To Stay calm - & - Here's What Happened...

    1) Went To... www.news.sky.com
    2) Video clip started to play - Then... Froze | Sanboxie said Nothing o_O
    3) Clicked On... Watch Live News
    4) Within a few seconds... Sanboxie said like before: 2211

Sure that Sandboxie had said more than code 2211 on my very first visit to sky News... Waited a few more Seconds!

    5) Sandboxie Popped Up Again...
    SB Two.JPG

This is what Sandboxie says about: 2205 : http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?SBIE2205

Think I Know How To Solve This Problem!
Stick to the... BBC News :D

    Thanks!

Have you tried going there without Start/Run restrictions?
