I tried that version and still had problem with windows media player crashing and immediately went back to 4.20 untill now. Figured I would give a 5.01.12 a try and it's working well just like the Blue Jays. and no more problem with WMP crashing.

So far running the start.exe program in compatibility mode for windows 8 the latest beta is working ok in windows 10. It doesn't work if I don't use compatibility mode though.

Wow we're at 5+ now? I'm just now starting to use 4.x versions on my Win7 boxes, and still 3.76 on the XP ones. I've yet to see a compelling reason to update.

How about some props to Invincea for how they've handled things since taking over this app?... I went back and looked at the first few pages of this thread just for fun, and you'd have thought the sky was falling. It's clearly in good hands and my resistance to update is based on usability, certainly not any reservations about it's acquisition anymore.

If you upgraded the XP now to the latest beta, I am pretty sure you wouldn't feel any difference regarding speed, playing videos, etc, than how 3.76 feels. Thats how mine feels.

If you use a lot of programs in the XP, maybe one wouldn't work sandboxed as nicely as before (that's my personal experience, it doesn't bother me). Sandboxie is more restricted now than in 3.76, sandboxed programs are allowed to do less in the sandbox than before, that makes the sandbox more secure but it has also created problems that did not exist before with some programs. Balancing 3.76 in one hand and latest beta 5 in the other, I take the latest.:)

I totally disagree. It is true that the latest beta is more secure than 3.76 but I don't know of any malware today that is breaking 3.76. If you know of any, at least tells us the name of the malware or where you read someone still using 3.76 reporting getting infected.

Stable version 5.02 is going to be released pretty soon. A 5.02 Release candidate has been posted at the Sandboxie forum. It has no code changes from latest beta 5.01.13. For me personally, in W7 and XP, this latest beta works pretty solid.

If someone likes to test the Release candidate, here is the link to the installers.:)

I don't think your problem is the browser. Cyberfox is not officially supported by Sandboxie but I know a few users who run it sandboxed in W10 and all is well.

In Software compatibility window in the Sandboxie UI, you have a setting there for HMPA, Right? Thats a setting that SBIE puts there when it detects you have HMPA. Try both ways, ticking the setting and not ticking the setting to see if either way, HMPA and SBIE become compatible in your W10 system when you run Cyberfox sandboxed.

Beta 5.03.1 is out. Stable version 5.02 was never released. It got cancelled after Microsoft's September updates KB3081455 and KB3087039 broke Sandboxie in W8.1 and W10.

Does (KB3081455) and KB3087039 brake all Sandboxie versions in W8.1 (and W10).
    Or, just v5.02.x

Now using 5.03.1. Although I am using windows 10 I did not get the update related to KB3081455.
The only problem I have is SBIE is the one in which Firefox won't run properly using SBIE's start.exe.

I think those updates broke running explorer.exe and a few other apps sandboxed in W8.1 and W10, no matter the Sandboxie 5 beta version the user is using. FWIW, this latest beta works nice in my XP and W7 32 bits. No issue of any kind, last time something broke for me was plugin container with beta 5.01.5. Quickly fixed in 5.01.6.:)

no problem here -> "run sandboxed" (is using start.exe)

    whats the exact error message?

i guess one of your plugins or external misbehave (third party)

    Windows 10, Firefox 40.0.x.

Run firefox using the "Sandboxed Web browser" shortcut (which uses start.exe). Goto the search tab in Options and the "Use this search engine for searches from Windows" checkbox is missing.
There are also some changes to the appearance of the title bar.

When firefox is run as a forced program there is no problem.
