Why version 3.81 and not 3.73?
    [.01] Support for Windows 8
Version 3.81.01 turns ASLR on for SbieDll: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=81642#81642.

Other changes are also mentioned in the Sandboxie forum: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=37.

    Download.

If it turns out that desktop apps can use the AppContainer sandbox (like IE10 can with it's separate tabs) then there won't be a need for sandboxie anyway.

According to Process Explorer, SbiDll.dll isn't supporting ASLR.

Nice catch! Security software not taking security precautions is always sad to see.

Finally! Glad to see support for win8 even though it's 'development' branch. I'm interested to know if anyone here has tried it on win8 RP and if so, how has it been?

That was fast, but do I see an executable there without ASLR also?

Looks like it's just the GUI that's not ASLR enabled, which isn't much of an issue.

I assume that's what sbiecontrol is.

I heard experimental isn't because of more kernel patching.

But what about the ability to not make programs access the net, or blocking access to certain drives?

I use these feature for a number of sandboxes I have.

I meant purely from a security standpoint not functionality. But in such a case, for the former you can simply use the Windows Firewall (or any other firewall) to block the app, and the latter you can set permissions on.

Metro apps are sandboxed using the Windows 8 AppContainer.

Oh yes, i read it before but not sure about details.

So no place for SBIE on win 8 tablets and phones.

No it isn't, it's for all versions of Windows 8. But I think he was talking about the whole Win32 programs not running on Windows RT.
