    Hi,

I recently licensed two copies of SafeOnline running in conjunction with free Prevx. I was able to get one working under Firefox on a desktop PC running XP SP3 after following Tzuk's suggested workaround to enable Screen Readers under Accessibility Applications in Sandboxie. But this doesn't quite do it on my Thinkpad running XP SP2. Here, the Prevx tab appears but always shows Host Name: Unknown; IP Address: Unknown; ...IP will be verified shortly; SSL Status: Unknown.

    But SafeOnline:

Works fine under Firefox outside Sandboxie.
Works fine under Opera in a similarly configured sandbox on the notebook.
Works fine on the desktop PC in a very similar configuration, as I mentioned.

Does not work (shows "unknowns") in Firefox in Safe Mode but in a sandbox.

For some odd reason, I had to choose "Allow direct access to entire Firefox profile folder" to get the Prevx tab to appear on the notebook, but that wasn't true on the desktop.

In both cases, Prevx 3.0.5.22, Sandboxie 3.50
Firefox 3.6.13 on the notebook, also Comodo firewall version 3.8.65951.477 (a later version on the desktop) and Avira free.

    Tried reinstalling Prevx.

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

Please read this thread https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=288529 and do as PrevxHelp has suggested and also send a Prevx scan log!

Thank you. I sent a log with a short explanation to the address given in that thread.

I'm getting mixed results from lowering Prevx self-protection to medium or low (and SafeOnline security to medium). Sometimes now SafeOnline will show the Host Name, etc., and then it will stick at showing a previously visited site or revert to unknown.

All the while it does fine in Firefox "outside the box" or Opera in a sandbox.

There is still some incapabilities between the two on how Sandboxie works you can have your browsers Sandboxed most of the time but if you need to do online banking or purchases use your browser unsandboxed for the extra protection of SafeOnline!

I wish there was a way to make Sandboxie and SO fully compatible with eachother. It'd provide you with near 100% protection when surfing the web. We'll see what Prevx 4 brings into the the air! I have big hopes!

Unfortunately Sandboxie/SafeOnline compatibility is likely not going to be reliable even with adding in exceptions. Prevx components within the browser process need to communicate out to the Prevx components running on the system and this will likely require more than just allowing SafeOnline through the accessibility interfaces in Sandboxie. With Prevx 4, it should at least be easier to allow SafeOnline through Sandboxie but Sandboxie is intentionally conceptually incompatible with SafeOnline's monitoring as it needs to prevent anything from accessing the system from within a sandboxed process.
