I don't use microsoft office or outlook express so is it safe to turn these monitors off?

Also i've noticed that sometimes the nod32krn.exe can be using 40megs+ of memory at times, is this normal?

yes u can safely turn them off, but dont expect any big decrease in mem usage.

as for nod32krn.exe, i got 17,700 K memory usage and 18,300 K for VM size. together they might reach 40 megs.

DMON is also used to scan ActiveX applets. It's better to leave it enabled.

You'd better leave them with the default settings = enabled .
If you turn them off , this won't speed up your computer

I noticed DMON also scans cab files so I leave it enabled, even though I use OpenOffice.
