For a while it has always been suggested to run Ewido 3.5 in safe mode when working on an infected pc.
Is it the same for 4.0
Is there any need to run in safe mode verses normal mode?

    Thanks

yes if you are infected and find in regular mode you run the scan again and you find you still are infected, then it is better to run it in safe mode and also if you are using windows xp you need to turn off System Restore first. Sytem Restore is constantly setting restore points which trojans, viruses love. In Safe Mode none of your startup programs, drivers etc are loading so you are more assured that you can actually finally clean the virus/trojan/spyware/malware and get rid of it once and for all.

You don't always have to turn System Restore completely off. Once you have cleaned up in Safe Mode, you can use Windows Cleanup to remove all except the last restore point. Just create a new restore point, run "cleanmgr", choose "more options" - delete all except the most recent restore point - and the let it clean up. You will be good to go!!!
