    This looks like an expansion of what Microsoft has been offering to web developers for quite some time. The images used to be just for Virtual PC, I think. These ones expire after 90 days. Before they were limited to a certain specific date after which you had to download a new one. That is the only problem, that they don't last very long. I used an Xp image from the web developer program a few years ago but finally got tired of the expirations and got a fully activated Xp VM. It gets used almost daily for vetting software.
