It's a tool you can send TRIM commands and shows many Optimizing options for the OS.

    € 9.95
    $ 12.19
    £ 8.47

    1. Not sure http://www.totalidea.com/products/tweak-ssd/
    2. I don't notice a performance gain but it uses less SSD reads and writes
    3. I live in Canada it shows me € 9.95 and $16.85CAD

@mantra All the tweaks are included in the free trial version, it is only lacking the TRIM Performance Optimization feature.

It would be nice if they'd even discuss the technical basis for their "TRIM Performance Optimization" feature to even determine if it even does anything at all.

It really can't even be evaluated properly on a technical basis.

Excuse me but from what I understand the SSD/OS already 'trims' your hardware automatically so there is no benefit of using external tools. Or in other words the firmware + OS already does this job without any other tools. So you may need such extra tools only if you use very outdated OS (below 7 or Linux 2.6.28x).

On encryption I would not recommend to use it at all because the trim command could reveal block information (especially the blocks are in use or not), but this was fixed by external Software like VeraCrypt from what I know.

I never heard that this breaks MBR or UEFI.

Agreed! The "tweaks" that can be seen in the above tool's WIZARD do nothing more than reduce the amount of possible WRITE operations to the SSD which will, at some extremely minute level (the number of reduced WRITEs as they relate to the bigger picture), extend the life of the SSD.

The so called "TRIM Performance Optimization" has no real definition or technical discussion available, so without buying the "pro" model it cannot even be measured in any concise way.

...in addition, the more modern Windows OS (Win8+), via dynamic TRIM and scheduled device OPTIMIZATION, do this just fine. Windows 7 needs just a tad bit of help (no Windows optimization available).

I don't know whether existing LINUX distros offer the same dynamic TRIM (I believe they do) and scheduled optization (not sure about this).

I removed the drive letter ( E: ) from the Microsoft Recovery partition without incident; thanks for confirming that it wouldn't be a problem :thumb: Regarding recovering the 1.5 gigs of unallocated space I understand how to use a partition manager to accomplish that, but I'd like to know why you wouldn't do it? Is it because of the number of writes it would subject the SSD to?

    Victek,

Out of interest, how much Free Space do you have in the Win10 partition?

It's a 240 GB SSD with about 140 GB free.

I agree with TRF. You don't need the extra space in your OS partition.

It's only 1.5gB... if and when you really need it, it can be added, but with 140gB FREE, why bother.

In the meantime, your SSD, internally, will use it to assist in its Garbage Collection process (it uses all unallocated space during that process)... it does this to reduce its long term WRITE AMPLIFICATION (don't ask :D ) to lengthen the overall life of the SSD.

You'll be fine for quite a while...

Hjlbx, the "Trim Performance Optimizer" is nothing more than the same OPTIMIZATION offered by Win8+ as part of the OS, nothing more. If you're running Win7, this can be done for FREE by using the SSDTool.

Tweak-SSD would have been most useful when TRIM first appeared in Win7 and users were trying to fully integrate a new SSD into an existing system (imaging/restoration)... nowadays, not so much.
