Perhaps I missed the announcement here, but in case others did also:
there's a new review of AV-tools on the rokop site: http://www.rokop-security.de/main/article.php?sid=552&mode=thread&order=0.

    [big grin mode]
    In short:
'In unserem neuen Test mußten aktuelle Antivirenprogramme unter Beweis stellen, wie gut ihre Hintergrundwächter mit gängiger Malware zurechtkommen. '
    [/big grin mode]

How well do the actuel resident scanners of AV-tools cope with the current malware (it seems that the english language borrows words from the german language, must be a first :D )

The table speaks for itself, just a try to explain the 10 points penalty codes:
1 download possible, scanning on access only
2 download possible, scanner reports risk, but does not block actions on the file
3 scanner doesn't block or denies actions on the file
4 data are removed without asking.
5 file save is possible, but warning on access.
6 5 points deducted because of a false positive.

Overall conclusion: most products are adequately equipped to protect against troubles. Some enhancements are possible, mainly to protect against users that act in panic ;)

Other good news: the performance hit is no issue for AV scanners. They are virually unnoticeable.

    Wizard: complete translation please :)
