    Hi

Thanks. Is it helpful? I see there are some low risk vulnerabilities. Are they FPs or useful information?

    Thanks

Generally it displays advisories for possibly insecure system settings.

There are 3 different mirrors for the AV and firewall here.

I have it installed and have not been hit up for any charges. I am pleasantly surprised by both the AV and Firewall.

Same request here. All the links say its a 30 day trial. My guess is if there was a free version wouldn't there be a site like freerfw.com just like freerav for the AV.

How long has it been? Shareware won't ask you to buy till it expires.

    Re: Rising Firewall Free Edition?

To clarify the confusion about 30 day trial / free issue mentioned above:

There are two versions available for download. One is a 30 day trial paid version the Other is a free version.

This applies to both Rising AV and Firewall.

For your convenience, I have mirrored both free versions below as they are hard to find:

    Download FREE Rising Firewall

    Download FREE Rising Anti Virus

    Thank you !!

Could you please elaborate on the differences (if any) between the free and paid versions as that info is also hard to come by.

I have download the free version, do a online update to the latest version and test it at GRC ShieldsUP. The results are not very constant.

TruStealth Anyalysis sometime fail with 1 - 4 closed ports. Retest again and it pass with all ports stealth. Restest again and it may fail. Probe conduct on common ports and all service ports.

I think better stick with comodo firewall which pass with flying color no matter how many time we test it.

Some software firewalls contain stateful packet inspection. (SPI)
I do not know about Rising firewall though.

CHX and many software firewalls like 8 Signs, Injoy are full SPI.

This thing leaks like a screen door in a submarine. AWFT, dnstester and Comodo leak test all sailed through it w/o a peep from the firewall.

    True,

That is because the guys of Rising decided to build a FireWall for its primerary function. It does this real good and fast. When you want to pass leaktests (which all about intrusion and basic HIPS functionality) with flying colors use Rising's AV with HIPS, see https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1274286&postcount=57

    Kees,

Any idea if their firewall works on x64 OS? Can't see any mention at their site except for their AV.

Have no idea, on VISTA64 we now use Vista FW two way, much to my son's satisfaction (lowest ping ever)
