    Hello all,

    I have installed the following:
    1- Ad-aware
    2- Spybot S&D
    3- HijackThis

The first two got rid of quite a few spywares and malwares; the third one resulted in the following log; I would like to know which of the one are bad, if any, thanks. Paz33

    Hi paz33,

Not many real bad guys, just some leftovers and potential dangers.
Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)

    O16 - DPF: {02BED220-FBC7-4392-93A2-3A50B056F78E} - http://down.plaxo.com/down/release/instub.cab

    O16 - DPF: {23B7A816-3647-49D2-9756-6F41CE8F9201} (ddm_download.ddm_control) - http://download.rfwnad.com/cab/ddm_control.CAB

    O16 - DPF: {CDCC6BE5-720B-488D-A953-047E0598D996} (UpMan Class) - https://www.plaxo.com/activex/plx_upldr-2k-xp.cab

    Then reboot.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Thanks for all your help Pieter, that seems to have done the trick... for now!
Another question, please: what do you recommend for scanning... once a week? more? less?

    Hi paz33,

    Glad we could help. :)

As for scanning, do you mean with AdAware and Spybot S&D? Then once a week would seem a fair deal. It depends on how and how much and where you surf.

Personally I like prevention much better then removing afterwards.

Here is a good read: http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957

    Regards,

    Pieter
