I was wondering whether or not a computer that has a broadband connection (cable) and does get an IP address from DHCP could be at risk from various sorts of Internet attacks while restoring system drive images with software such as True Image, Drive Image 7, Norton Ghost 9.

I can't say for certain, since I use Image for DOS for image backup/restore operations.

If I were imaging/restoring from within Windows, I'd just turn off your cable modem when imaging/restoring.
