I am running version 8 of TrueImage build 764. It appears my SYSTEMced (or system hive of the registry) is corrupt. I have made daily incremental backups but I don't have the option when booting from the rescue CD to just restore that one file, I have to restore a whole partition or disk. Is that the only way to get this one file restored?

I see no problem with just restoring the C: drive.

I haven't done this but using the BartPE plugin CD you should be able to mount your image as a drive and copy the required file to your C: drive. A lot of work. I'd just restore an image from when you know your computer was working properly. Done in 5 to 10 minutes.

This may not be intuitively obvious, but you can make an image of the boot partition with the corrupt hive. Save that image and then restore the earlier image where everything worked.

From the operating system, use the Explore function in TI to can save the hive file by itself to to a CD or external hard drive or another partition.

Restore the corrupted image and then copy the hive file over the corrupted version.
