RESTORE PARTITION ERRORS

Using the B&R 10.2 freebie Recovery Media CD in "Linux" mode both partitions of the HD in my Toshiba laptop ['A'] were backed up to external USB (successfully i think - no err msgs at completion). However when trying to restore each partition image ("archive" ??) separately on a similar Toshiba laptop ['B'] two err msgs appear:
(1) "archive integrity err between sectors". The restore was allowed to continue by answering "no to all".
(2) a few minutes later an "invalid archive file" err msg appears despite the fact that the restore had made some progress.

Prior to the restore a surface analysis was run on the HD on 'B' with no errs.

This is a BIG exposure since there is now no valid backup for laptop 'A'.
What am i doing wrong ??

I would suggest running a check disk /f on the disk prior to backing up. You could also try creating a BartPE CD to restore and see if that helps.
