    I have my backup images stored on an external drive, and TI does not see this drive when I try to restore through the Acronis loader/ reboot solution (when attempting to restore over active C:\ drive).

    Upon examination, I see two possible problems:

    1. Backup drive I: is formatted in FAT32...

    2. Backup drive I: is a Firewire device (that can't be accessed in "Safe Mode"), which is what the boot method seems to be.

    Are either of these, or both, are problem for me?

    Any solutions appreciated... gunga

    Hello gunga,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    First of all, please make sure that you use the latest build (937) of Acronis True Image 8.0 which is available at: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

    To get access to updates you should create an account at:
    http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/
    then log in and use your serial number to register your software.

    Please create new Bootable Rescue CD after installing the update, boot your PC from this CD and see if the problem still persists.

    If the problem still persists when booted from Bootable Rescue CD made using the latest build (937) of Acronis True Image 8.0 then please check if your external hard drive is connected to PC through a hub. If so then please try to connect it directly.

    If that's not the case then please also try the "acpi=off noapic" workaround as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    If that does not help then please collect the following information:

    - Create Acronis Report and Linux system information as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    - Vendor and exact model of the external hard drive;

    Please also do the following:

    - Launch Acronis Report Utility once again and select the "Create Bootable Floppy" option;
    - Insert a blank floppy disk in the A: drive and proceed
    with creation of the bootable floppy;
    - Boot the computer from this diskette and wait for
    report creation process to finish;
    - Collect the report file from the floppy;
    - Rename the report created from under Windows to report_win.txt and report created using the bootabale floppy to report_diskette.txt.

    Please keep your external hard drive connected while creating both reports.

    Send all the collected files and information to support@acronis.com along with the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
