    Paragon Drive Backup Server 10.9105.
    Windows Server 2008R2
Has (currently) one hard drive with SRP, C: & D: partitions.

I want to find a reliable method of imaging & restoring the SRP & C: partitions, and leaving the D: (Data) intact. (Windows hosed scenario).

I restored images of the SRPartition & the C: to another good drive which has identically sized SRP & C: partitons.
Boot off the new drive & get "Error loading operating system".
Run Startup Repair from the 2008R2 install dvd (first sees: OS not found) and then (OS now found) repeatedly from a Windows 7 64bit install DVD, until repeatedly "no probs found".
    bootrec.exe /fixmbr completes successfully.
Now it boots past the Windows moving bars to a black screen with cursor, then auto-reboots (reboot loop).

    Help!?

    Thanks -Chris

If your system is getting to the Windows splash screen and reboots itself, hit the F8 key to get a list of options. Disable the automatic reboot on error option. The next restart will give us more information on what's the problem

OK did that. It was a Directory Services error 0xc000000f and Stop c00002e2, as Active Directory was on a second hard drive Id unplugged to simplify the imaging/restoring.

But: how come the restored Paragon image isn't booting the first time and needs the Startup Repairs? It supports 2008R2, so... ?

    Thanks
    Chris

Is there a way for Windows 7 / 2008R2 to just boot after restore, and not have to do Startup Repairs from OS DVDs ?

    thanks.

    sunny757,

Could you please specify are you trying to boot from hew HDD in the same PC? Or it is new PC with new HDD?

Please boot from WinPE Recovery CD and try to browse restored partitions. If data is there, mark SRP as Active and perfrom Update MBR.

    Re: Restore Fail Server 2008R2 / 7

"are you trying to boot from hew HDD in the same PC? Or it is new PC with new HDD?" different HHD in same PC.
"Please boot from WinPE Recovery CD and try to browse restored partitions. If data is there, mark SRP as Active and perform Update MBR."

Did this. Failed again, different error.

I imaged anew the SRP and C: partitions. Restored these 2 partitions, one after the other, to a different HDD, overwriting in turn the C: & SRP partitions already on it.
Ran the Boot Corrector - Correct MBR - Update MBR - Report:successfull.
Put HD on same SATA port as the original backed-up boot HD, in same PC.
Set BIOS to boot off it.
Error \boot\bcd 0xc000000f "error occurred while attempting to read the boot config data"
    Ran Boot Corrector again.
Modify partition parameters - SRP is already Active.
    Corrected BCD. Report:successfull.
    Reboot for Windows, but..
Same error: Error \boot\bcd 0xc000000f "error occurred while attempting to read the boot config data".
    Give up on Paragon.

Boot off 2008R2 install DVD, run Startup Repair twice (first time it didn't initially see the OS).
    Boot into Windows, OK.
    phew. what a rigamarole.
This thing "supports 2008R2", right. And the 2008R2 boot process is exactly the same as 7 -this is happening for 7 users also.
    Please advise. Thanks
