I wonder how the CIA plans to ensure security of its Amazon cloud.

And I wonder how long it will take us mere mortals or benefit ;)

Would you rather have the worlds most sophisticated brute force code cracking machine as a physical device located in a giant warehouse where it has a physical limitation due to its size. Or would you rather keep it in the cloud where its size and scope can be infinite only limited by the size of your pockets and the coins within them.

By *not* using Amazon's cloud one would think/hope. Call on their general expertise, have real security oriented people overseeing things, get full source code and all hardware design specs, source all your own hardware through fronts, build and operate your own private cloud while leveraging Amazon's design and experience. Bonus: you learn how to hack Amazon's cloud and customers while you are at it.

Now let's not forget Amazon's past. What happens when the server farm goes down and the CIA can't use it to bruteforce?

They are. NSA is a key resource that works with the DOD, and CIA. Just like the CIA many times work hand, and hand with the DOD. NSA is top dog when it comes to computing power.

I wonder if CIA employees get Amazon Prime subscriptions from this deal. ;)
