The original (removed) thread contained a few things we don't allow here. It quoted private emails without approval, and complained about/debated the management practices of another forum. It was also posted in an overly sensationalized way, which appeared to be an attempt to carry an issue had at that other forum over to this one. As such, that thread won't be returning.

However, here is a link to the original thread at the Outpost Forum, where everyone can see the background on this issue, and decide for themselves if hidden files and/or ADS consitutes the use of rootkit technology and whether that is a bad thing or not for a piece of security software:

    http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20192

Further, a return isn't really necessary since there are now more recent postings about this topic in these two threads, both of which have started out on a somewhat better footing, and appear to be a way to carry this topic forward:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=973620&postcount=24

https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=170152 (now merged into the one above)

Edit: Actually, since it really was a duplication, I merged the second thread noted above into the Beta thread. No need for two such threads when all the discussion can fold nicely into the Beta topic.
