Could someone recommend me a reliable USB 2.0 Portable hard drive? I need to buy a couple for some laptops that run hopefull using USB 2.0 power without needing extra help. Appreciate your help. Will be running them on Windows 7 and Vista systems.

I use the western digital passport and it works flawlessly for me. It's entirely USB powered and uses a small laptop sized hardd rive, and obviously western digital is a reliable hard drive manufacturer so that's nice too.

There are some newer models out thatsupport USB 3.0 so you may be able to get a bit of future proofing if you buy their newer models.

Although I'm not sure if a 5400rpm drive would benefit much from USB 3.0

I got a FreeAgent Go a few weeks ago and have been happy with it so far. I don't use the backup software that came with it though, so I can't comment on that aspect.
