The current release version of RVS is 2010 v3.1.
And there is 'Returnil Virtual System Lite 2011 Beta' labled v2.1.

Why has the release version 3.1 and the this Lite one 2.1?

Is 'Returnil Virtual System Lite 2011 Beta' the upcoming RVS 2011?
And where is the Virus Guard in this Lite 2011?

RVS Lite 2011 is being developed as an alternative to the main RVS 3x line for those who do not need or want the Virus Guard feature and also require an in-network stand alone management console. The current 3x line is still our flagship product and will remain so going forward.

RVS Lite 2011 is designed and positioned to provide a wider product range for potential network customers at a more attractive price point. This includes simple home networks through more complex Enterprise level environments.

So new features added in Lite will be also found in the flagship 3x.

The new features that were being tested in the RVS Labs version which is now Lite 2011 will see integration into the 3x line; especially the virtualization engine upgrades such as multi-partition virtualization and file/folder exclusions.

This will not happen immediately however as the changes cannot be added to 3x in a "lump". Each feature must be added slowly and then tested for stability in the 3x architecture first. This is of course behind the new multi-state restore feature being tested now which is unique to the 3x line (will not be available in the Lite 2011 version). Once stability and performance are proven in 3.2 with MSR, then look for the addition of the virtualization engine upgrade features to be integrated into 3x.
