Which security apps feature registry protection which intercepts the changes before they happen rather than after like polling type apps perform. I only know one for certainty - RegDefend. Does SSM and the new Online Armor do this. I'm in the market for one such and i'm not neccessarily looking for a registry only protection. If it's a multi tasking app that features registry protection then that will be a consideration. All suggestion's appreciated.

The registry module in SSM free is real time. Only the services module polls. RegistryProt 2.0 is also real time but only covers a very limited number of keys.

Registry + File protection and net connect (outbound) all in real time. It is free open source and same functionality as regdefend. Only its self defense is less (but then again it has broader functionaliy than Regdefend , sort of Regdefend + SensiveGuard)

    Hi Muf,

OA2 does block, rather than poll. However, it does not let you choose keys to monitor in its current incarnation.

MJ Registry Watcher now both hooks changes and polls. If a change is detected to the registry, it immediately undoes it, and then prompts for action (unless you've got it set to Auto-Accept or Auto-Reject mode). It can email alerts to a supervisor (so if you run a CyberCafe, you will be kept informed), and it costs just 4GBP.
