regedit outside of windows?

    I have a bunch of corupt stuff in my windows XP install. I cant boot up into windows in regular or safe mode. Is there a way to edit the regitry if I cant get into windows. My main problem involves userinit.exe. It cant load so nothing else can load either. please help. TIA

    A bootable CD Windows and you have access to everything.

    Or if you have a multiboot WinXP/Win2K, boot from one to modify the other.

    Hi, fractilian

    Boot from your OS CD>When you get to the insall screen choose>Rapair Installion useing the Recovery Console.
    Press R>
    Then Type 1 [ONE]>
    Then Enter your Password the one that you installed with. [Administer]

    Then it dos all the way.
