I recently had this problem on at least two of my computers. Very occasionally, when I click on a link on a legitimate forum website that is not known of distributing malware, my browser automatically re-directed to "get-privacy-guard.org/index.php" (please see the attached pic, and please do not click on the link). Of course I did not install anything from that site, but I was wondering does this mean that my computers are infected? Has anyone here been re-directed to this "get-privacy-guard.org" website? I scanned my computer with malwarebyte but nothing is found.
As long as you don't click you should be fine. This kind of crap is exactly why I use Sandboxie. Then it is all trapped anyway
Thanks Pete. Folks at that forum sites also have similar experience recently, so it does look like these could be some potential problem with their forum SQL database system. Still, I restored a whole disk image I made when the system was just installed. Anyway I am relieved for now.
@oliverjia It's probably on their end, but it could be on yours. DNS can do what you describe. IMO it would be prudent to check your DNS settings; and see if the DNS servers are correct for your ISP, or for public DNS services. Likewise with proxy settings on the PCs. If you have a router, check the DNS settings on that too. You probably won't find anything, but it's worth being cautious.
