Recovering maildatabases-is this possible?

    If you delete a a large portion of mail by accident, when trying to delete a virus (via an onlinescanner), is it possible to recover those files? or are they completely lost forever, unless you bring it to one of those expensive (i would think) firms that specializes in this kind of thing. :)

    What e-mail client are you using? Are you using a POP3/SMTP server, or Exchange server?

    It's not myself, so i'm not 100% sure about which server, but think it's POP3/SMTP, the e-mail client is outlook.
