What resource meters (i.e., cpu and ram usage) do you recommend (for running in real-time)?

Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a good windows explorer replacement?

    Thanks in advance.

for monitoring resources TinyResMeter is a good choice.

Sysmetrix is another very good choice of system resource monitoring. It is highly Customizable and can be configured to monitor practically anything.
Total commander is a very powerful Explorer replacement.

I like a just very basic information on my deskptop available all the time with no details, so I use Yahoo widgets for CPU and memory use, they look nice as well.
SysMetrics has many skins too but I never tried it. Widgets are small and don,t occupy lot of space on desktop.

I think that with the right theme, Sysmetrix can really compliment your desktop.

Here's a screeny of my current theme, including Sysmetrix:

    for Explorer replacement

Directory Opus without a doubt :)
can't believe how easier life is with this puppy

Xplorer2 would be great if it had just a few
more tweaks. Like the ability to rename folders
in-situ and treat zip files like folders

XYPlorer is worth a look as well. Last demo
    I tried was pretty impressive
