During the start-up scan, NOD presented me with a dialogue box stating that it had found a possible threat 'readme.elm.exe'.

I was offered the chance to submit it for analysis which I did.

I then did a full scan but nothing was found. On re-starting, NOD didn't detect anything (apparently).

A Windows search for the file-name found nothing.

Googling threw up very little of interest about the filename. I'm a bit puzzled:

If I am infected why didn't NOD catch it at the time of ingress - it obviously found something at the subsequent start-up?

Does the submission of the suspect file also delete it - it wasn't then found on a full scan or the next re-start?

Will I get a response from ESET following the automatic submission?

Is there anything else I can usefully do?

    TIA

    William

Hi . Since NOD32 doesn't found the threat any more , it is most likely deleted when the pop-up appeared :)
    Nothing to worry about .

ESET will not send you a mail confirming they have received the suspicious file , simply that is their policy :)
