Yes, CPU utilization and memory usage is lighter in 5.2 than 5.0, especially Spysweeper.exe.

During beta testing, NOD32+ Spy Sweeper+ZoneAlarm runs a lot better than KAV+Spy Sweeper+Outpost.

That's fixed now. This problem is not happening only to us :)
We have to adapt our software to Microsoft's bugs.

Please make sure that some 3rd party software doesn't block the TCP/IP communication between the tray icon (avgnt.exe) and the Guard service.

    Sorry to hear that.

After looking in the beta forum I see that you were pretty happy with the RC1 until this issue with the umbrella.
I hope you'll give it later a try since now the bug is fixed ...
Let me know if it works for you in order to close the incident ;)

    HI smustaca,

    Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I was very pleased with the beta, and prior to that the Premium until I experienced the problems. In fact I liked
Avira about as well as my favorite, KAV, and better than anything else including NOD. I would like to use it on my laptop.

I keep following the situation with the various versions of Avira because I do like it so much.
I do note that the Classic forum has an entry today regarding the umbrella not opening.
Is it the case of the new version, RC1, being fixed, but not the others?

As to another application blocking the tray icon, I don't know how to check that. It does not happen the majority of the time so I wonder why it would not always block instead of only sometimes. I am not very computer savvy, and so need a relatively trouble free out of the box application.

I am not sure if my beta license will work with the RC1 now, but I may try it again. I always hate to disturb the "sleeping dog" but sometimes I feel like living dangerously and go ahead anyway. :D

Again I appreciate the help, and I keep hoping that some version of Avira will work for me.

    Best,
    Jerry
