I finally got POed enough to gas Norton Internet Security 2005...long story, all of it ridiculous.

Freed up, no kidding, 280 megs of space. I have a 6 gig drive, partitioned into C and D, so space is at a premium. What a hog!!!

    Anyhoo...

I've noticed that I still have a Symantec running process, from start up: symlcsvc.exe.

    It's located at:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC

Within that folder, I find the following:

    symlcnet.dll
    symlcrst.dll
    symlctnk.dll
    ez_log.html

Within "Symantec Shared", I also find:

    IDSDefs Folder
    Registry Backup Folder
    IAM.dat file
    IAM_old.dat file
    SEVINST.EX1
    SEVINST.exe

How do I get rid of all of this...aside from setting my computer on fire?

I'm so pissed with Symantec, I don't want anything left, if at all possible.

What is a "shared file"? Does it tie in somehow with other programs? And if I kill this one, do I risk screwing up something else?

What could happen if I use Task Manager to shut off this running process?

    Anyone help me on this?

    o_O

    PS: Using Win2k Pro.

reboot in safe mode and then delete the symantec and norton folders containing the symantec and norton junk. if it doesn't work post back here and we will do something else.
