A trusted program I use, Stickies (freeware sticky notes program), ordinarily tries to install a global keyboard hook.

Should I allow this (so far I haven't), or could such a global hook be used by keyloggers? (Most of Stickies' functionality is available without the hook, although some isn't.)

    Hi LM1,
Providing the sticky note program is on the security list I think you will be OK as the global hooks it needs will only apply to that process. As the keylogger would have to install it's own .exe or hijack another.

    Hi Phlli

I was wondering also about global hooks that MSN Messenger needs?
    What do you think?

    TIA,

Personally I do not use MSN but if you can still use it without too much loss of functionality then do not allow hooks.

Hopefully an MSN user will post their settings which may help you. :)
