    Hi osip,
Yes, uninstall your current copy to install and test 2.0.xxxx

If you run into any registration issues when upgrading to try it out and need a testing Serial Number please let me know and I will get that to (everyone) as soon as possible. 1.7x and older SN's will not work with 2.0.

We will continue to have and update a freeware version, but 2.0 is where the editions will diverge. This is in major part to offer premium feature sets for our customers while maintaining a free alternative for home users.

Personal Edition: Is scheduled for a GUI upgrade, but the current 1.7x feature set will remain

Premium/Business Edition: Business will be renamed by Premium Edition with change commit and cache choice as the primary core of this edition. It will also be available as the upgrade for current licensees

Network edition: Still in development with Central management as the current focus. More information will be available as we near real-world testing.

The Premium Edition has the same trial period as the previously named Business Edition. We can also tailor the trial license as needed for proper testing and then evaluation as required.

    HI Mike

Must need a serial number. None of the new features could be accessed.

Also would love to see an option to turn off the balloon tip.

    Hi Pete,
It might be due to old registration information. See my PM for a suggestion and will get you a SN as soon as possible regardless.

    Hi,

    In other words,

As far as free version (personal edition) is concern, future feature development will stand still at 1.7 ?

    Hi Perman,
No, it just means that additional feature set(s) are not scheduled for the Personal Edition in 2.0. This does not preclude upgrades for its underlying technology when appropriate, interface/manual improvements, or even additional features we may want to add in the future.

    Hi markymoo,
We are working on this, but need to complete the 2.0 upgrade project first.

    To everyone wanting to test,
To keep from causing a flood in PMs, send us a request for testing Serial Numbers using the Contact Us form page on our site:

    http://www.returnilvirtualsystem.com/index_files/contactus_tech.htm

For the subject line please use the following so I can reply to you quickly:

    Subject: RVS Beta 2.0

Thanks in advance for your feedback as always.

Unistall of the old version and install of the beta went OK.

Selected to run in memory cache.Serial I received activated till Feb 08.

Everything seems as per norm but the File Manager button ain't lighting up.Does it need RN's virtual partition for this feature to work or am I missing something simple. as is the norm.

Will RN throw up a warning if it runs out of mem cache and stop working or will it switch to disk cache automatically?

Also don't mind the tray icon but would like to be able to switch off the balloon.

    Hello Franklin and Pete,
For the current build(s) please use the Disk Cache method to test the File Manager and total session save option. We will be upgrading the Memory cache method for easier use as the Beta series progresses towards the final GOLD version.

The first thing we need to stress test on a wider range of systems is the new file cache methodology before we release significant changes in the Memory cache.

Please uninstall and then reinstall your copy to change to Disk cache and then repeat your test.

Using the disk cache seems to enable all the features.Seems to work very similar to a vm if using the save all changes feature.

Not really needed here as I don't use any blacklists or windows updates here at all with any pics or whatever needing to be saved can go to another partition.

RN wanted to create a disk cache of around 5.6 gig so I left it at that.

Much prefer to use the mem cache.

Instead of the normal 10 seconds to defrag with PD it seemed it was gonna take forever to complete defragging RN's disk cache.

Going back to using the mem cache method.

I just received my serial number after only requesting it a couple hours ago. That's fast service.

Thanks Mike. Look forward to taking it for a spin.

    Nice.

Great to see Returnil moving forward with such an already very well planned out innovation.

Especially fond of the CHOICE now between Disc vs. Ram.

Very interesting concepts rising up in this as progress moves along.

    New beta.

If I slip into session lock then change protection status to on, RN states I need to reboot to turn on protection.

I don't think that was the case for the final release version?

OK, don't anyone go into a Fiz here because i don't "heap" multiple apps like i used to, but since this Returnil 2008 is beta i thought it appropriate to see how it fares when in a crowd.

So this version of Retunil 2008 i can safely say so far fastens itself perfectly stable with these other security apps that i am running with ALL of these other customization apps at the same time. Thats right, all of these together, and there is NO slowdowns whatsoever.

I intend to test Returnil with many other security apps as time permits for compatibility comparisons but this is just the first installment of configurations like this, but i really don't expect any serious inhibitions since it's designed to confine the partition including ALL items/progrms to it's artificial environment beit memory or disk.

    Malware tests upcoming..............

Bear in mind, this first tryout of mine is with Returnil's "disk caching" not "memory" to test this feature below. Also created Virtual Partition. Other equally useful options available that enhance Retunil even more IMO.

The File Manager Browse Real System Partition is a nice new feature that works well so far. Good job on that one too.

    ALL RESIDENT RUNNING PROCESSES:

    Security Apps:
    EQSecure 3.41 + OnlineArmor (free) (HIPS Enabled) + snoopfree + Kerio 2.15 + PC Security (No FD-ISR)
    Customization Apps:
AvaFind + TheatreTek + RunMe + Iconoid + Visual Task Tips + VistaMizer + Digital Timepiece + GlassToast

I put a request in yesterday for a test serial but I've just thought can you get one if you don't already own the premium edition?

    Hi Mike

    Bit of a problem.

Downloaded but refuses to install. First two attempts gets to creating file cache and then takes an age and then aborts installation.

Rebooted and now hanging at C\Programfiles\Returnil\Succesfull

    Any thoughts ?
