According to the documentation, encrypted communications (VPN, SSL/SSH tunneling, Anonymizer, Ghostsurf) are not controlled. So does it make sense at all to have Web Filtering, POP3 Checking, HTTP Filtering, etc, enabled at all? Would performance improve if all this was turned off?

    Thanks

Turning it off makes sense in some situations, typically when you are running some kind of server that serves http traffic. If you are doing this for a personal workstation, leave it on.
