I had the installer on my old PC but that was fried by a lightning strike a while back.

    It was an excellent HIPS.

Hello aigle, I was just looking for a replacement for Real-Time defender pro which is prosecurity, because sometimes it gives a bsod (when doing things with chrome and some other things which I can't remember) and stumbled upon this topic. I can send it to you. Just pm me you email address. Apart from the now sometimes present bsod's (which maybe aren't the fault of it) it's great software and certainly not rogueware

If I remember correctly the developer of RTD sold the program and went to work for Comodo in 2009.

I also remember that the setup involved the program searching the computer in order to set up rules and it took FOREVER to finish.

I want just a classic HIPS (although without my pc is a bit faster and it never blocked something malicious...makes you think). Behavior blocking is kinda covered by Outpost Firewall Pro I guess. Btw SSM doesn't work well on my pc. That's why I started using RTDP. So a classic light HIPS would be nice.

Yes, but that was more than 2 years ago. It slowed down my browsers too much. Don't know how it is now, but will first look into :

    Looks interesting.

The free version doesn't do anything really except black/whitelisting. I'm not going to buy it to test it further. I don't wanna test others either. I decided to have a lttle less security on board (feels nice to have that extra speed!). Also deleted regwatcher. When the pc gets infected (which it never was for years now...) an image will do the trick. Thx for the suggestions.

It's probably not rogueware, but a product that causes bsod's and is no longer supported is a good indication it's time to drop it and look elsewhere.

As I remember SSM Free does not work on XP SP3, you should try only latest paid version 2.4 that already play with SP3. Of course you can try also few more HIPS that are very advanced and was famous in the past - Viguard, ProcessGuard (Diamond CS), Neoava Guard, maybe All-Seeing Eye or Ghost Security Suite?

I'm not sure that Privacyware's DSA (Dynamic Security Agent) is a classic HIPS or that it's available for download anywhere. But if it can be found it may be worth a look.
