Using Acronis True Image Home version 11 under Windows Vista Business.

I chose to do a data backup of my documents folder. I used all of the default options when making the backup.

When I restored my documents folder, again using all the default options, all the file date metadata had been changed to the date of the restoration -- this included file creation date, file modified date, etc.

What did I do wrong? Can I restore again with different settings and get all original dates back?

    Many thanks for your help.

From the TI 11 manual (Restore options):
Have you tried using this option to keep the dates and times saved in the backup?

The default is the worst of all possible choices except marking all the files with a BC date. :) What is wrong with these programmers?

I absolutely agree to your statement that this default setting is the worst choice. Losing date and time of files and folders can be so annoying...

Add me to the list of those who think it is the worst possible default. I shudder everytime I have to change the default.

    Hello all,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

Thank you for your feedback. I have created the appropriate task at Customer Listening System (CLS).

    Thank you.

Where is this option, to restore to original date and time, in True Image 9?
    Thanks, gm

There is one in Tools Options Additional Settings. However, if you are restoring using the Rescue CD the settings are burned into the CD and aren't changed by the above. Look very carefully at every screen when you go through the restore wizard. I can't tell you exactly where it is.
