    With this issue can you please send an email to support@nod32.com and place a link to this thread. If you do not hear from Eset within 3 days (allows for weekends), please advise us here...

    We would appreciate if you could keep us in the loop with your progress, as we all learn this way…

    Cheers :D

    sorry that took a little long,
    ok i contacted them and here is what they sent:

    " Hello,

    There are 3 possible reasons:

    1. The TMP and TEMP system variables are not defined in the system, or the directories to which they point do not actually exist on disk
    * Please make sure the aforementioned variables in System properties - Advanced - Environment variables actually point to existing directories (see attached screenshots)
    2. The file \Program files\Eset\nod32.000 is corrupted for some reason (e.g due to a disk error)
    * Check the disk for errors using scandisk (Win 9x/ME) or chkdsk (Win NT/2000/XP/2003)
    * Rename the file nod32.000 (you might need to restart Windows in Safe mode first)
    * Reboot the machine (you'll get an error loading resident protection, just ignore it)
    * Update NOD32
    * Reboot the machine
    3. The file \Program files\Eset\nod32.000 is locked by another application
    * Rebooting the machine and updating NOD32 again should do the trick.

    Regards,
    Nigel. "

    This could be caused by the fact that your ISP uses a transparent proxy server which you do not have configured in the update setup.

    No sort of "download acceleration" software installed, which may try to compress/decompress the download?
