I tried playing an older game, and I'm getting really bad frame rates and such. The game froze up, and when I stopped it using Task Manager & reported the problem back to Microsoft, I got a message saying the problem was caused by Kaspersky A/V. Of course I'm using the latest version of Eset Smart Security:

    Virus signature database: 3491 (20081003)
    Update module: 1024 (20080514)
Antivirus and antispyware scanner module: 1153 (20081001)
    Advanced heuristics module: 1076 (20080917)
    Archive support module: 1082 (20080911)
    Cleaner module: 1032 (20080724)
    Anti-Stealth support module: 1002 (20080723)
    Personal firewall module: 1040 (20080924)
    Antispam module: 1008 (2008070:cool:

    I'm running MS WinXP Version 5.1.2600 SP3, AMD Athlon 64 3000+ with 2MB RAM.

I suspect the problem is ESET Smart Security, but I don't want to have to disable it to play the game. Any thoughts?

    Hello Carlson.

That bit confuses me.. Is that a typo? I'll assume it's a typo and continue.

Probably the best way to ride past this problem is to put AVP2 folder into the exclusions list of your AV component.

    Something like this would be good;
    C:\Program Files\Fox\Aliens vs. Predator 2\*

No, that wasn't a typo---Microsoft told me my problem was caused by a program I've never used. I'll add the exclusion and see if that helps. Thanks.

A process of kaspersky is avp.exe which I assume is the same as alien vs predator, so I guess microsoft has some kind of index and they just check the name of the process not what it actually is.

    Hello,

Have you tried switching ESET Smart Security's ESET Personal Firewall into Interactive Mode and then re-running the game to see if you receive prompts to take action when the game accesses your network connection?

    Regards,
