Problem installing Eset Smart Security

My computer was infected this morning and my "Panda Internet Security" was useless. I purchased Eset and I have been unsuccessful in installing it. the error I am getting is "'eset service' (ekrn) failed to start services. verify that you have sufficient previleges to start system services." I know the trojan or viruse is preventing the install, but how do I get around this problem?
