I'm installing Disk Director 10 on a 2 year old XP Pro computer with a C: and D: partitions. The C drive is small (14Gb) and the D drive is 100Gb. The C drive has less than 2Gb available is the reason for repartitioning. I've cleaned the drive of most everything non-essential to get the available up to 2Gb (before clean-up <605mb was available). When I install Disk Dir, I get the initial menu screen and when I click on the "install" selection and get the Windows "preparing to install" screen and then nothing. It just stays there (over 1 hour). I see no hard drive activity or warning pop-ups. Plenty of RAM - 2Gb, no start-up programs. Anti-virus/anti-spam software off. What am I missing?

What build of DD are you using?

Are you installing for All Users? Default settings, Custom settings?

Is XP current with Windows Update (including Service Packs)?

I haven't made it that far yet. I plan on installing to all users and default settings.

    Windows XP SP2 installed.

    I appreciate any help.

Are you installing from a CD or from the DD downloaded installer? If you downloaded it, have you redownloaded the file or checked the MD5 value to verify it's not corrupted?

Have you cleared your TEMP folders? This can help in some cases when Acronis programs won't install properly.

Have you tried extracting the MSI file and installing it directly? You can do this by running the installer, right-clicking on the "Install..." option and selecting Extract from the pop-up menu. Save the MSI file and then try running it to install DD.

I downloaded and redownloaded the file. It doesn't appear to be corrupted.

Temp folders are cleared and no help.

I'll try that. I'm not close to that computer until next week but I'll report what I find.

Thanks for all of your help, MUDCRAB (cool name!):thumb:
