    Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1

    Just two questions.

1.I can’t checkmark “Empty Recycle Bin” while cleaning Internet Activities. I’m logged in as Administrator.

    PrivazerRecycleBin.PNG

2.CCleaner added a new feature – “Wipe Alternate Data Streams”. Does Privazer have anything similar?

    Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1

    Hello Zmechys,

    1. Empty the recycle bin
When cleaning only "Internet activities", it seems to us that there is no need to empty the recycle bin. What do others think ?
To empty the recycle bin :
    - select "Empty recycle bin without a trace" instead of "Internet traces" in the main
    - or select "Scan in-depth" to have full option ("Empty recycle bin" is checked by default)

    2. Concerning the secure deletion of files

Additionnal features already implemented in PrivaZer
    - Wipe cluster tips
    - Scramble file name
    - Scramble file size
    - Scramble modification time
    - Scramble last access time

New features to be added :
    - Wipe Alternate Data Streams on NTFS
    - Scramble creation time

If Internet Explorer is disabled/removed - the option to clean it is greyed out in Privazer....is this by design ?

Some programs still fill the Temp Internet Files cache with garbage even when IE is removed.

    Yes, it is by design.
Which programs are still using the Temp Internet Files cache ?

I`ve never really studied it in depth, but there always seems to be stuff appearing in there....

I think Macrium and InSSIder do....two that I can think of, I guess it`s the microbrowsers (?) they have ?

In the "Scan" window of PrivaZer,
you can add "additional files and folders" to remove at each cleanup.

    - click "Modify"
    - add the path to your Temp Internet Files cache to the list.

    Hope it helps.

I'm going to say this: When the Wilder's Community comes to the consensus that PrivaZer is "the best darn cleaning program out there"...I'm going to buy it. I've never clicked on the "Donate" button to see how much it is, but if it's $25 or so, I'm in. I think it's cool that they joined and are taking feedback.

PrivaZer Team: I assume you guys scour the Forensics blogs, looking for areas to add for cleaning?

While running Privazer, I got the following message:

"Unable to clean up INDEX_ALLOCATION attributes in MFT for c:\user because it contains UNICODE chars."

On a regular basis, I used CCleaner to "Wipe Free Space" - Simple Overwrite (1 pass). It used to take about 3.5 hours.
Now on the same computer, it takes about 16 minutes to wipe free space - 3 passes - with Privazer.
    And the results are amazing.

Just do it and you'll feel better.

observations after using it a few times:

negatives: GUI should be more compact in my opinion - too much wasted space for no reason. at very least we should be able to shrink the GUI, as on my netbook its trouble to move it.

positives: PortableFreeware.com says its "stealth" so it apparently doesn't leave bits of junk here and there like other so called "portable" programs

also, re: other programs adding stuff to temp internet files, i didn't remove or disable internet explorer but i rarely use it and i did notice that a radio app i have called Tapin Radio seems to allow cookies to be placed from some radio statons (streamtheworld or CBS Radio) to the temp internet folders.

I've found a review about PrivaZer at Dottech.org
"Permanently erase your past computer activity with PrivaZer"
    http://dottech.org/92192/windows-permanently-erase-your-past-computer-activity-with-privazer/
    Version reviewed: 1.6

I don't care too much about "Justin's" opinion on PrivaZer because for me Privazer it's "a must". Just one thing.
"Justin" did not like the defragmenter.
I did not know that Privazer has its own defragmenter.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Cons

Most of the additional features it comes with (like the defragmenter) are not great and really not needed

    Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1

I've just wiped out the free disk space on my Windows 8 64-bit computer with
    i7-3770/8 GB RAM/ 2 TB.
It's a "heavy-duty" computer - a lot of various files processed every hour.
It took 8 minutes to scan and 15 minutes 58 seconds to wipe out.

    From Privazer web-site:
    http://privazer.com/
No recovery possible with expert software like :
    . GetDataback
    . Testdisk
    . O&O DiskRecovery
    . Recuva
    . Glary Undelete
    . Easeus Data Recovery
    . Pandora Recovery
    . Paragon Backup & Recovery
    . Ontrack EasyRecovery
    . Recover My Files
    . Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery

    Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1

I believe Privazer has two methods for space wipes. A total disk free space wipe, or a "Smart" one. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I can't do a scan right now, and I think that option is only available after a scan. I think it's in the section where you can select the number of passes, etc... IIRC, when it does one of it's scans, there is a box of the disk map shown. It may be looking for any sections that don't contain just random data, and just wipes those sectors, or whatever.

    Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1

You have 2 methods to wipe free space :

    - the normal cleanup :
    it cleans every free sectors

    - the smart cleanup :
it only wipes free sectors that need to be cleaned, which speeds up
    drastically free space cleanups.
You can clean a free space of 1000 GB disk in only a few minutes.
No need to clean what is already cleaned ! :D

The smart cleanup is set up by default.
The first time you clean up free space with the smart cleanup, it may still take a while because many free sectors have to be wiped.
All next cleanups will be very fast since many sectors are already cleaned ! ;)

Smart cleanup is available for NTFS and FAT.

    Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1

What I would like to see for the Secure Deletion/Shredder feature...

    1. An option/check box to enable or disable Right-Click context menu (Secure delete) = to be found either in Options> Express or Advanced Options

    2. When a user performs secure deletion of a file (Via Right-Click context menu), I think the program should automatically close once secure deletions have been finished. Download this tool http://www.fileshredder.org/ to get an idea on how a shredder should behave (Via Right-Click).

If those two thing's were implemented, I believe your Secure deletion/shredder feature would be a lot better than it is now.

What I would like to see in the way PrivaZer behaves...

    1. A way to make closing operations instant, instead of seeing/waiting for the message that reads "Closing in progress, Please wait..."

    ______________________________________________

I absolutely love PrivaZer, it's my go to cleaner.

The only quirks I have with it, is what I listed above.

If those were implemented and fixed, it would be perfect.

The cleanup of MFT Indexes does not support UNICODE filenames yet.
We will fix that in a next release.

    Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1

    Another thing I noticed...

    USB History:
I can plug in a USB Flash Drive, then unplug it and PrivaZer tells me there is No traces found.

Earlier builds of Privazer use to detect USB history, but hasn't detected anything for awhile now/in the latest builds.

    You are right.
USB history cleanup has been deactivated because there were issues with some Bluetooth dongles which could not be recognized after cleanups.

We need to improve it before activating it again.
