    Are they giving it away becuase after they merge the product is "toast" and thus all this does is build their list of potential customers email addresses etc?

    I know I'm cynical on this....

    IMHO CCleaner and Eraser is much better, even if Privacy Guardian is free.

    Yes, I concur. And newcomer free KCleaner (beta) will also be another very good & better one.
