Most people do report a slowdown when using Prevx. I use the free version and even that does slow things down somewhat. It also depends on how modern your computer is. What is your cpu, memory etc...

Prevx Home/Pro tends to amplify CPU usage in other processes.. the new version is much better about that.

I am speaking of the Prevx 1 beta, which is not like Home or Pro in any visible way (only underneath).

    Hi,Notok

should i install & try it out from what i have seen
    on the forums.

prog say Virus / Trojan / Spyware scanners
is this so have you heard of any big problems
    as far as other progs.

    Thank you

Well it's really up to you. The new version is completely different, but they have said that there will be some of the functionality of the old put into the new. Nothing is set in stone, however. It may be worth a look, but with a complete re-design underway it may also be worth waiting, depending on your thoughts on such matters.

I never experienced any slowdowns with either Prevx Pro or Prevx1. Both ran on minimal resources on my machine (AMD 2.4GHz).

If i exit firewall cpu goes back to normal.firewall is outpost ,so there must be a conflict.
If i start outpost back on cpu goes to 100.

doing what it should not be.

I only ever used the Pro version (and now Prevx1). The Pro version allows you to edit rules so that you do not get so many popups. Once finetuned, you will rarely get a popup except for when installing a program.

To get a popup on the home version :

    - download an exe (say another security program) from the net, you will get a popup box (as it writes to temp areas protected by Prevx Home)
    - add a new auto start program should generate a popup
    -any installation will generate popups

I'm sure there's more ways, but can't think of them off the top of my head. Depending on your setup, Prevx Home can be very noisy or fairly quiet.

As far as the rules in Prevx Home & Pro, the only difference is that Pro lets you edit them. You can still create rules in Home, but if you end up telling it to always block/allow something that you don't want it to, you have to delete them all and start over again. Prevx was never really overly "noisy" for me anyway, though.

    Hey,To all

I have to say again this is one great looking prog i may just
    keep it for it's looks:)

    @Notok

Once again thanks for the reply & help

but i do have one problem much like my dad
    i buy items 4 or 5 at a time & i was thinking of
doing just that with this prog.

but then as i was looking for more info
on how to best use it i seen this here

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=90745&highlight=Prevx

now i know it's only $20 each but why would they not take
care of something this bad because the way i see it is
if they don't care about something this big what would they
do about a small problme that may show upo_O?

    @Vikorr

I would also like to say thank you for the help & reply
lit me ask you if i may what do you think of that link
& test i would think that if i was trying to sell a prog
that i would fix this right away

by the way i can't seem to find a support forum
for this prog would you know of one if so could
you post me a link please i would like
to ask someone who works with or for Prevx

as to why this has not been fix or if they or anyone
is working on a fix like i said before this is one sweet
prog & would love to install on all my PC's but the Pro Ver
but it would be nice to see what is being done about this

    Thank you all

It's a very limited problem (only works from the desktop) that is being fixed in the next version. That came out when they were half way through making the new Prevx 1 (currently in beta), which addresses many things.

    Prevx has forums here http://castlecops.com/forums.html

However, they are somewhat tardy about replying to posts on that forum.

If you send them an email direct to their support staff, you will normally get an answer within 24 hours (I've sent two there).

Using the Prevx Home/Pro HIPS will give you a much better idea of what Prevx is about than the Prevx1 beta version....because Prevx1 has so many fewer popups (and those are almost entirely related to an unknown exe trying to run), yet the same Prevx home/pro structure lies beneath Prevx1 - which makes it the better product to my way of thinking :)
