Would like to try Prevx 3.0 but was told there isn`t an uninstaller. Is this correct. Don`t want to try something that I can`t get rid of if it`s not for me.
    Thanks

I think there is one - Uninstall Edge is listed under start > all programs > Prevx Edge

    The shortcut points to:

    "C:\Program Files\Prevx\prevx.exe" /prop UNINSTALL=Y

Installed Prevx 3.0. It is NOT in the add/remove programs. It also does not have an uninstaller which I can not understand why. The only way I found to delete it completely was with Hijackthis.
This is as bad as trying to get rid of a virus. Maybe it is a virus.

    Agreed.

So what is that on my machine then? (post 2 refers)

    Again, post 2 refers.

The Prevx installation is not registered in Windows.
Windows needs to know everything that is going on in Windows.
To properly register and deregister software installations and uninstalls in Windows, all software should be installed and uninstalled through Windows Add or Remove Programs.
Yes, yes, yes, Add or Remove Programs points to the installer and uninstaller of the program, however, behind the scenes, Windows now knows what is going on and makes the proper
registry settings and so forth deep within the Windows Registry. All of this can only be accomplished successfully with an updated current version of Microsoft Installer.

01)- Download an fresh copy of Prevx from the Prevx Web Site
    02)- Uninstall Prevx
    03)- Reboot
04)- Perform an manual Windows Update to ensure that Windows is equipped with the latest and current version of Microsoft Installer
05)- Also make sure that Windows exists the updated current version of Microsoft .NET Framework
06)- Also make sure that all Windows Critical Updates are installed
    07)- Reboot
0:cool:- Install Prevx (all software) through Windows Add or Remove Programs

Not worth the trouble. Other programs are available that are easier to use. Still feel that this is a virus. Thankfully for Hijackthis or I and others would be stuck with a program we can`t get rid of.

Well at least do this for your computer:

04)- Perform an manual Windows Update to ensure that Windows is equipped with the latest and current version of Microsoft Installer
05)- Also make sure that Windows exists the updated current version of Microsoft .NET Framework
06)- Also make sure that all Windows Critical Updates are installed

I have installed and uninstalled Prevx through Windows Add or Remove Programs successfully several times with no problems.
Also, as Triple Helix Posts, the Prevx support here on the Wilders Security Forums is great, Mr. PrevxHelp is an dedicated, intelligent individual.

When Mr. PrevxHelp discovers this Thread, he will help you uninstall Prevx.
I hope you find an security application that you are comfortable with, and trust, that is very important to any one user.

It may have not installed correctly. If you haven't gotten rid of the program yet, then maybe reinstall it and see if it shows up in add/remove programs.

Sorry - only just came online to see how this thread had descended to this :D

Prevx 3.0 SHOULD have an entry in the "Add/Remove Programs" listing, but obviously something went wrong with regards to this during your install. As already posted above, we do have a dedicated uninstall tool for instances such as this, as well as a commandline that will also perform a full uninstall.

There will also be an "Uninstall Prevx 3.0" option under the start menu options with the next public release.

    Hope this helps :)

When this happens, I will try the program again. I now know how to uninstall it if it doesn`t work---HIJACKTHIS

Not meaning to be argumentative - but we would never recommend removing Prevx 3.0 using HijackThis.

As already mentioned - we have a dedicated removal tool (which is available from our support page), or a commandline which will also prompt an uninstall if this is missing from the "Add/Remove Programs" list.

Tried it before I tried HIJACKTHIS, it didn`t work. Will wait for the next release then decide what I want to do.
    Thanks

Did you try the Prevx 3.0 uninstall tool, or the Prevx 2.0 uninstall tool?

Sometimes our users try to use the incorrect uninstall tool which obviously fails - therefore I would assume this is another instance of this.

Even if you did use the correct uninstall tool, again - we have a commandline as a final resort which will kick off the uninstall procedure. You only had to ask ;)

Thanks for all the advice, but just put in an uninstaller with the download. Why have customers have to go thru all the hassle just to remove something they might not want or understand after trying your product.
Thanks again, now it is time to leave for work shortly.
