I'm hoping someone will help me with what is becoming a difficult problem with no solution in sight. A customer has been running Prevx for a couple of weeks with no problems. The notebook is running Windows XP Pro, SP2, latest windows updates loaded, Spybot, SpywareBlaster and Eset Smart Security.

Then the user profile was corrupted, I created a new profile and copied all the necessary documents from the old to new profile. Unfortunately Prevx was not happy. When trying to run, install or uninstall Prevx a message popped up saying Prevx had encountered an error and needs to close. I tried using RevoUninstaller but this resulted in the same error.

Then frustration and stupidity took hold and I deleted the program folder and some registry entries hoping this would allow me to reinstall/uninstall the program.

Then I found this forum. I would be very grateful if someone would help extract me from this mess.

    Hello,
Glad to see you've found our forum :) There are a number of additional entries which could cause the issues you're describing. Can you try uninstalling Prevx with our removal tool from http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?grab=csiuninstalltool and then rebooting the system and reinstalling?

This will remove all components without relying on the built-in installer. Let me know how it works for you :)

    Simply brilliant.

    OK the story...

I tried running the uninstaller in the user profile but received the message 'Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.'

Booting to safe mode and logging in as Administrator did the trick. Prevx uninstalled. Back to normal mode, Prevx installed without a hitch, up and running again.

Thank you, thank you for rescuing my sanity. If you were here I'd give you a huge hug. :D  :-*
