hey, so about 2 weeks ago prevxhelp let me try out prevx for a week and i liked it. i know prevx free doesnt remove, provie realtime protection, and can only do deepscans (not fullscans), but i remember when i was using the free 3.0 64bit version the tray icon says real time monitoring or something like that. so can the free version still somewhat detect malware without doing an on demand deep scan?
Yes. - Detection isn't crippled if you don't enter license. Just malware removal is. So realtime *detection* should work for you in 'free trial mode'. At least this is how I interpret following quote from http://info.prevx.com/edgehelp.asp
ok so the free version detects the same malware as the paid version but it cant prevent and remove the threat right?
Hi; Yes I concur with the guys here! I also used to have PrevX trial after the 7day trial license expired and it is in realtime. Maybe PrevX help can give you another 7 day trial license... PrevX is a valuable security software for any pc user nowadays. I also have HitmanPro but it also uses PrevX engine and I like PrevX better. Regards, voltron
but at the free version, the basic configuration has "enable realtime master boot record scanning" checked, it is misleading.
Good point - that is not clear. Thank you for pointing that out, that option should not be checked in the free version
