Hello Forum Wondering why Prevx 3.0 has a dedicated Removal Tool. I thought recommended uninstall was via Control Panel > uninstall (add/remove) Why and/or when might I need the Removal Tool? Regards bjm_
Possible bad install or other problems with uninstalling! https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1537841&postcount=2 The new RC1 version has the uninstall option in the Start>All Programs>Prevx Folder TH
Hi Triple Helix Thank you for your interest... So, may I run Removal Tool just to be sure I had a clean uninstall via Control Panel. Is the Removal Tool always safe to use. Or, is the Tool potentially destructive and only to be used as a last resort. I am not familiar with new RC1 or if uninstall option is same as Removal Tool. Regards bjm_
Triple Helix Wow! Had no idea Prevx might not populate to add/remove programs list. That explains why Prevx has a Removal Tool. Thanks, works for me! P.S. Prevx will really run along side any Security product without a potential conflict ? What if Prevx is scanning at the same time my resident Security app is looking at the same activity. The two ball players going after the same fly ball scenario. Surly, that has to randomly occur... Comments ?
We've had users very rarely come in with complaints that Prevx was not in the Add/Remove programs list. This is generally caused by another program removing Prevx from the list or preventing Prevx from creating the entry at all but in a vast majority of cases, the entries are created properly so uninstallation can take place easily by just using the Add/Remove programs applet It does, and we encourage it to occur We've designed Prevx to be completely compatible with all major security software so you can have Prevx+another security program scanning the same files or blocking the same threats at the same time without a problem. Let me know if you have any other questions!
I recently ran ComboFix and it said that PrevX 3.0 may affect its operation. But this was after I had uninstalled prevX 3.0?
Prevx and Combofix are definitely not incompatible but Combofix may be detecting some left-over entry within the Windows Security Center. It may be worth running the removal tool to see if there is something which was left behind in there.
