Preserve Windows Activation

Is there any quick and easy way to preserve someone's Windows XP Pro activation?

I know I just did this with Vista, and I was wondering if there is a similar way I could do this with XP.

It's an OEM, and they don't have the original disk, but managed to get a hang of another disk and need to reformat the computer.

Another solution could be to try and replace the OEM disk. See if the manfacturer can supply you with it or else search around. I have an old IBM thinkpad that i lost the install disks to. Fortunately i was able to find an original set on ebay for a good price.
