I just installed PPM 11, 64 bit, on this Win 7 64 bit laptop. It wanted to go into the Program Files (x86) folder. After some googling I decided to allow it to do that. My question now is: is this OK, or could it cause problems? (I've just used it to do an operation on an external hdd which seemed successful.)

It is where it is meant to go.

Really? I thought 16 & 32 bit programs go in Program Files (x86) and 64 bit ones in Program Files.

Did you get the right installer for your OS? If you did then the assumption is that there is a good/by design reason why it defaults to that location.

The program is written in 32 bit code. It has 64 bit compatible drivers and it works on a 64 bit o/s.
